RECENT WORK

A DOCTOR'S DILEMMA

A Doctor's Dilemma from George Bernard Shaw's "The Doctor's Dilemma"

Connecticut Repertory Theatre March 2024

Directed and Adapted by Tlaloc Rivas

Having the opportunity to play the titular Doctor in a classic Shaw problem play is not something that comes easily or often. The amount of intensive period movement work and dialect work was fascinating and I felt very proud of the work done by everyone on this project. As a senior graduating from UConn's BFA Acting program, I felt that it was an excellent excuse to synthesize all aspects of training that I've developed over the past 4 years. Hardest part: the word "discouraged". Funnest part: being able to stand on a moving turntable and contemplate the stars!

HAZELS' HANDS

Carlos plays Matt Reyes, a teenage tortured artist

Written by Carlos Fruzzetti

Directed by Chasity LaFrancois and Carlos Fruzzetti

While very few rehearsal photos exist (others can be found on my Instagram) it was a huge honor to open the very first festival of original work honoring Jerry Rojo at the University of Connecticut. Hazels' Hands is a piece that is still in development that I have spent many years of work on as a writer, director, and an actor.  This page will be more detailed as time progresses and it is subsequently produced. For more info, do get in touch! Hardest part: writing! Funnest part: collaboration with all years of UConn Students!

WAR OF THE WORLDS 2023

War of the Worlds 2023: A Servant of Two Networks by Jaron Aviv Hollander

Directed by Jaron Aviv Hollander and devised by Carlos Fruzzetti, Weimy Montero Candelario, Kaitlyn Oliva, Charles Rusciano, Annie Tolis, and Alex Winnick

While playing the role of Lieutenant Lou Tennant, I was whisked into the world of Commedia. This riot of a sow had no script, and was different every single night. In true form to Commedia, we the actors had before us a series of events that had to happen in order to advance the plot. Whatever else came along was entirely up to us. In terms of styles for shows, this one was entirely unique at every turn. Hardest part: trying to get more and more ridiculous and learning the style. Funnest part: the time a child had to be chased around the theatre because he stole a prop.

RENT

RENT: Connecticut Repertory Theatre, April 2023

Directed by Nate Bertone, Choreography by Brandon Kelly

I played Roger, which had been a dream role of mine since I was perhaps too young to fully appreciate the weight of the story. Having a chance to play guitar onstage while representing often stigmatized chronic illness is always a plus! Hardest part: the new voice techniques! The fun part: that GUITAR! playing "Your Eyes" was such a highlight.
